Overview
Directs engineering operations for the company. Ensures that products are designed or re-designed in order to meet quality and sales objectives.
Duties and Responsibilities
Responsible for the successful operation of the Engineering Department including profitability of projects through proper cost estimates, and monitoring project hours. Responsible for signing off on Engineers’ project drawings and concepts. Creates project and Engineer schedules based on budgets and available resources. Works closely with the Vice President.
Essential Functions
Must have excellent communication and customer service skills. Must be able to direct and supervise Engineering Department’s efforts. Must have extensive project management skills, including scheduling and monitoring project milestones. Must be innovative, offering solutions and new practices to improve department function. Must be accurate in timekeeping.
Work experience requirements
10 years Engineering experience with some management experience.
